...recipes for the (vegetarian) picky palate...
why

It all started back when I was teaching (about four years ago). During one of my summers off, I decided it was time for me to learn to cook. I had started watching the Food Network...mainly the original Iron Chef for entertainment value...not culinary value. But, I found myself watching the other shows...gradually leading into watching something everyday. Most of what they did, did not look that hard and I was bored.

So, I went to the grocery store and for the first time in my life bought nothing pre-packaged. I made a couple meals...some where hits (Lemon White Wine Pasta) and some were misses...(Barbecued Ribs). Over the course of the summer I kept trying. Alex (my fiance and the best dishwasher/kitchen cleaner) was always supportive and even ate my misses.

Since that summer it has been sort of a love affair. I go to my kitchen for stress relief. Most people think its weird....they stress about cooking. I really do love it and wish I could do it all day everyday. For now, it will have to be mainly limited to the weekends (thanks to a start up technology business that keeps me in front of a computer 24/7)...ok, maybe that is an exaggeration, but I really feels like it. I look forward to my weekends in the kitchen.

In the last year, I have stopped eating meat, Thanks to the movie Fast Food Nation . Seriously...was that movie really necessary? I was fine thinking that the animals went in one end of the tube and came out the other end hamburger, like the Jetsons!! At any rate...it has given me some new culinary challenges. I desperately miss bacon...mainly bacon fat, and prosciutto. But I am determined to find/create tasty vegetarian recipes!

So this website is my journey...my ever evolving journey to become a decent cook.

A side note...although I do try desperately to write down and remember where all my recipes originated from, I have missed several. Others have evolved so much over time I feel comfortable calling them my own.
